My favourite recipes for kids are cakes. The end products are
usually so appealing that they get kids interested in the cooking
process.
Involve kids in making sandwiches, washing fruit and vegetables,
putting lettuce out on sandwiches, and other simple cooking related
tasks that mean they get involved, get to make choices about the
food they eat, see how easy it is to make a sandwich even.
Progress as your child needs - some will be happy to stir a pan
or to pop down the button on a toaster and some will want to be
more involved.
Show them how to make their favourite foods, how they can get
involved, but always being careful round hot pans and ovens. Never
leave a child alone in the kitchen, there are just too many things
that could happen! A well supervised child is a safe child!
If you're not into baking then try a packet cake mix. They're
very effective, always work, taste good and are fairly simple!
Encourage them to help clean up too!
